The 42nd Annual General Meeting will be held in person on Saturday 10th October 2026 from 2pm at the Red Lodge Millennium Centre, Lavender Close, Red Lodge, Bury St Edmunds, Suffolk, IP28 8TT. All are welcome: members, friends, family and anyone else with an interest in the oldest road in Britain.
Morning Activity
A pre-meeting at West Stow is informal. Committee members will be loitering around the café and would love to say hello to friends old and new. Before the AGM, members are invited to meet at West Stow Anglo Saxon Village, giving everyone an opportunity to renew old acquaintances, look around the village, and perhaps join Doug Landman on a short wall to Beeches Pit. The village is a 15 minute drive from the AGM venue. Entry costs £7.50 plus £3.00 to park. Details can be found on the website: Welcome to West Stow Anglo-Saxon Village & Country Park .
Guest Speaker
The meeting will start at 2pm with a talk from Stephanie Paull, Heritage Officer at West Suffolk Council, titled: “From Beeches Pit to West Stow: 400,000 years of human occupation in the Lark Valley”. Stephanie is a regular presence at West Stow Anglo Saxon Village where she demonstrates ancient crafts and provides expert insights on the history of the area. The Icknield Way runs through parts of the Lark Valley and shares the route of the Lark Valley Way as it approaches West Stow from the west, so this should be a fascinating talk for anyone interested in what was happening around the path in times gone by.
A break for refreshments at 3pm will be provided prior to the formal AGM at about 3.30pm. If you wish to hear the talk and your are welcome to stay for the AGM, but we will not be offended if you leave after the refreshment break. Only members will be entitled to vote at the meeting. We expect to finish by 4.30pm.
