Circular Walks using the Icknield Way Path

Sharpenhoe Clappers - Sundon Hills circular

1 hours 25 minutes | 4.3miles 6.9km | Leisurely (Map 5 in the Icknield Way Guide)

Extensive views across Bedfordshire on a stile free rural circular walk following the Icknield Way using paths and tracks. The walk involves a progressive climb of 70m height. Dogs to be kept under close control where livestock grazing.

Sundon Hills – Toddington circular

2 hours 22 minutes | 7.2miles 11.6km | Leisurely  (Maps 4, 5 & 33,34 in the Icknield Way Guide)

Extensive views across Bedfordshire on a stile free rural circular walk following the Icknield Way path. This diverse route crosses an Chiltern’s ANOB, the M1 and the midland mainline railway. Dogs to be kept under close control where livestock are grazing.

Dunstable (Bedfordshire)

Spectacular views from Dunstable Downs, the highest view point and the largest stretch of chalk down land in Bedfordshire

Linton (Cambridgeshire)

3 miles. (extensions optional). Map OS Explorer Map 209. Cambridge, Royston, Duxford & Linton (Map 3 in the Icknield Way Guide)

A short walk up to the water tower on the top of Rivey Hill, with good views of Linton in the valley below. Down the hill again the walk follows back streets and the river Granta through this picturesque village. Possible extensions include Chilford Hall Vineyard to the north (pre-booked tours available www.chilfordhall.co.uk/tours) or Linton Zoo to the south.

Lilley (Hertfordshire)

A walk across a lovely, rolling, Chalk upland farm-scape with wide views.

Therfield (Hertfordshire)

6.7 miles (10.8km) (short cut available). Map: OS Landranger 154 Cambridge, Newmarket and surrounding area (inn GR 336373) (Map 13 in the Icknield Way Guide)

Each leg of this walk reveals its own views and has its own special interest, from open farmland to heathland, from golf courses to horse gallops, from ancient barrows to nature reserves.
